It's Time!

Time has flown by. Sorry for not updating until now. Over the last couple of weeks, Mommy's recovery has gone very well. She had her fair share of blood and platelet transfusions. And she had 14 days worth of Neupogen shots. She had some bone pains from the shots, but definitely not as bad as the first time she took Neupogen! In the last week and a half her counts have been improving and she's even had the energy to take walks with my Dad in the evenings.

Yesterday, Mommy had her blood test and her counts seem to have gone up over the weekend -- without the aid of transfusions! Before the doctor admits her for her chemo treatment, they want to see her bone marrow produce her blood cells to good levels on its own. Her platelets yesterday were over the preferred number of 50,000!

Tomorrow, Mommy has her monthly check-in with her oncologist, Dr. Loren. I won't be surprised if she asks Mommy if she'll want to be admitted at the end of this week to begin her LAST round of Consolidation Therapy.

YES!!! You read that right... HER LAST ROUND OF TREATMENT!!!
When Mommy gets admitted to HUP it will be her final ... 4 out 4 ... Consolidation Therapy!!

At times it's hard to believe that it's already time for her last round. And other times, I'm so eager for my mom to be done and for her to not have to go through this anymore. Next Thursday will mark 5 months since my mom was diagnosed with leukemia.

It's amazing how much has changed in that time. We saw the seasons turn from Winter, to Spring, to Summer... and as she completes her treatment and recovers to begin her "new normal," it will turn once more... to Fall.

One thing that hasn't changed in this time is the constant Presence, Peace, Comfort, Strength, and Grace that has been poured out and over us during this time. God has been our Rock and Refuge. I'm so grateful for the ways He has held each of us up during this time.

...so grateful!

Please continue to pray for God's complete healing of my mom from the leukemia. Pray that when her treatment is complete... it will be complete for good.
