Mommy finished her last round of chemo last Thursday - early in the morning. It was around 1:30 AM that she was unhooked from the last bag of chemo. By the time all her discharge papers and prescriptions were completed and reviewed with her, it was past noon. By early afternoon we were home and that evening Mommy had her last non-neutropenic dinner -- take out Chinese -- to celebrate!
Mommy is now in her "down" time. The chemo is taking effect. Throughout the whole weekend Mommy has been having a rising temperature. If it gets above 100.4 she's supposed to go the ER -- thankfully it hasn't gotten to that point. Daddy has been nursing his patient with ice bags, sponge baths and good food.
Today she'll get her blood tests. We expect it will be pretty crazy at the office due to the Labor Day weekend. But, glad she's getting checked out. We suspect she'll be due for some red blood cells.
It's expected that this "down time" will be longer than other times. It may take a few more additional weeks for all of her counts to be recovered and her to feel well. But we're hoping that when she's done... she'll be really done.
