A Trip to the Tower

It's been a long time since I've updated. Many apologies for those who've been wondering how things are going.

Tomorrow morning we'll be heading to Penn Tower. Mommy is scheduled for her post chemo check up with her oncologist. It has been a little over 6 weeks since she completed her consolidation therapy.

March 28, 2008 was the day my mom was at the doctor's office and given the initial diagnosis of leukemia.

The past 7 months have been filled with days of doctor's visits, chemotherapy, hospital stays, blood transfusions, platelet transfusions, neutropenic diets, neupogen injections and some long, hard and tiring days.

The past 7 months have also been filled with laughter, joy, hope, faithful and uplifting prayers, comfort, peace, God's presence, new perspective, strength, God at work, His healing, the amazing words of encouragement, new friends, and the incredible support in so many ways of friends, family and even strangers.

Tomorrow the doctor will check to see how she's recovering and will outline the long range plan for my mom's care. So, we know that tomorrow's appointment will not the end of this journey. It will be a glimpse of what this next part of this journey will look like.

We hope that all things will indicate that my mom's bone marrow is functioning well again following the grueling chemo she's received in the last 7 months. And that her bone marrow continues to be free of leukemia.

In the past couple of weeks Mommy has continued to have increased strength, her blood counts have been improving, and she has even has been well enough to drive herself to the grocery store.

This weekend Cindy was home for the weekend so we enjoyed the time we had together... and Mommy's cooking!

Thanks for your continued prayerful support. Please continue to pray that she will cured of this!!

More tomorrow...
