Mommy's appointment with her oncologist was full of lots of good news! Thanks for your prayers for her!The doctor assured my mom again that she is in remission and she is optimistic that she will stay that way. She thinks that Mommy's recovery is going very well. Not only has she been feeling well, but her blood reports are also showing that her counts are all at normal levels.
So... what's next?
My mom is scheduled to meet with the doctor again in 5 weeks to make sure that her recovery continues. During this time she'll continue to get blood tests done. However, she'll only need to have them done once a week instead of twice.
Following her next appointment with Dr. Loren they'll evaluate how everything has been going and they'll likely schedule appointments for just once every 2-3 months ... and then after some time they'll change it to every 3-6 months and eventually to every year. And hopefully in all this time she'll continue to remain in remission... and after 5 (? -- I think that's what I read somewhere) they consider the patient CURED of leukemia.
It will still take some time for her to regain her energy entirely. So, it will be a continual building up of activities.
Now my mom won't have a calendar that's so jam-packed with medical appointments as it's been in the last several months. She can go back to life as normal. She can resume her previous activities. She can travel. (She's VERY looking forward to seeing her grandson!)
And... we continue to rejoice and give thanks for God's healing! It's amazing... seeing her physical and emotional strength. (my dad too!) All evidence of God's grace at work.
