Consolidation Therapy... ROUND 2!

Mommy is scheduled to be admitted to HUP tomorrow (Monday the 23rd) to begin her 2nd round of the Consolidation Therapy.

This treatment will be an exact repeat of the treatment she received when she was at HUP from May 19th -24th. During the week long stay at the hospital she'll receive chemo four times. The days that she has "off" during her stay, she's encouraged to get out of the hospital and explore the area.

At the end of the week she'll come home... when the chemo will take effect. Her counts will be low so we'll have to follow all the neutropenic precautions in diet and interacting with people (mostly their germs!) and she may need transfusions during this time. In time her counts will recover (with the help of the drug neupogen) and she'll be well enough to get checked in for her 3rd round of consolidation therapy to start the cycle over again.

Praise the Lord that Mommy has recovered so well after the first round of consolidation therapy and that she is able to go in for this 2nd round as expected. This past week her counts were all good and she had a good, sustained energy level. Always caring for others, she's even taken some time this weekend to cook and freeze food for the upcoming week for us!

Please pray for this week to go smoothly and with no complications.
Please pray for my mom to continue to feel encouraged. Pray that during this cycle she'll continue to have the Lord's strength, comfort and peace. Pray that her recovery time will go well again after this treatment.

Pray too that the colds my dad and I caught would quickly go away so that we'll be able to fully care for my mom without worrying about spreading germs to her.

The doctor told us that Mommy is in remission and that the consolidation therapy is to make sure to get at any lurking leukemia cells. Pray that thjs consolidation therapy would be succesful in doing that. Pray that she will continue to be clean of leukemia. "They" say "they" call it "cured" after being clean for 5 years. Pray for 5 years and BEYOND!!!
