Mommy's intense pain from her medication (Neupogen) lasted for a couple of days, but by Thursday morning she was feeling well again.
The Neupogen did indeed work.
Thursday was her scheduled time to have her blood drawn and tested. The results showed that her white blood count and her neutrophils increased SIGNIFICANTLY. It increased enough that her doctor asked her to discontinue the Neupogen for right now!
Her platelets however were still low (16,000) so the doctor also asked her to go in to get platelets transfused today. Rather than having to get admitted to the hospital like last weekened, we opted to take the train and go to the doctor's office.
While we were at the doctor's office she started to show signs of a slight allergic reaction -- little tiny hives at different spots on her face. After her transfusion we went down to Potbelly for lunch. We left with the instructions to "come back up if it looks like it's getting worse or there are more."
After lunch the little hives seemed to be getting better but since I had to have some paperwork taken care of, I asked Mommy to have the nurse spot check her. They agreed, it looked okay so we headed home.
Mommy took a Benadryl during the transfusion and afterwards -- for the allergic reaction. It's made her QUITE drowsy.
Unfortunately she's experiencing chills and now the temperature that had been normal since yesterday, is on the rise again. The doctor on call said that's the continued signs of the allergic reaction. We'll keep on the watch and keep asking what to do next. :)
During the cycles of treatment -- it's a continued "Up and Down."
The counts go up and down.
The temperature goes up and down.
Mommy's energy level goes up and down.
Thanks for praying with us through this!
UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! : We're taking my mom to the emergency room at St. Mary Medical Center now. t, Even though her temperature hasn't reached 100.4 yet, the doctor-on-call would like her to go so that blood cultures can be done to see if there's any infection.
