Life on Rhoads 7: Travelling to and from

My mom came to Rhoads 7 directly from St. Mary courtesy of the Newtown Ambulance Squad. Mommy was on a stretcher when she was escorted to her room by the ambulance worker. When the ambulance brought her here, the WORKERS got lost. It's a bit of a maze finding your way to this place. At least it's a nice little bit of exercise for us.

Every night after work my dad comes to HUP and travels back via the train. I take the trip whenever something needs to be done at home or when my mom is doing well and has the company of my dad or one of her sisters.

I took some pics on my walk back to the room from the train station so my mom could get an idea of where we are...so I'll share them with you too!

A nice and relaxing 45 minute train ride from the Woodbourne Station brings us to the University City Station. It's great having this easy way to commute to and from the hospital.

After leaving the station you have to make your way through the Penn Tower garage to "The Bridge" - the walkway over the street from Penn Tower to HUP.

You have to weave your way through a number of hallways and buildings before you even make it to the Rhoads building.

You know you're made it to the right bank of elevators when you see good ol' Mr. Rhoads. (Do you notice anything odd about this portrait??)
You take the elevators to the 7th floor where you'll finally find your way to my mom's room.

So far my dad has only missed the train home once and we had only one significant delay.
The other night on our trip home we ended up having to sit on the train at the "Fern Rock" station for over an hour. The conductor came through saying we weren't permitted to move because of "police activity" up ahead. After over an hour the trains were allowed to move. The conductor got the train in motion and once we passed where the "activity" was, he flew us through each stop to finish out the route. As we went through the accident scene we saw where it happened -- a bed sheet covered up part of the tracks. It turns out that someone was walking along the tracks and got hit and killed by the train.
