Day 30: Checking on the Lawn...

Dr. Tsai gave us a good analogy following her Day 14 bone marrow test results. He described the INDUCTION THERAPY Mommy had like spraying the lawn for weeds. The weed killer cleaned the lawn of all the weeds we could see. But, we don't know if new weeds are going to grow in along with the grass.

Today is DAY 30. We're heading out this morning to return to HUP. Mommy has an appointment at her follow up doctor's office in Penn Tower. She'll be getting another bone marrow test to check if there's any leukemia cells growing in with the new cells. The test will hopefully see if there are "weeds" growing in again.

She had her blood drawn twice this week. Her ANC continues to increase which is great. Her hemoglobin has been fluctuating a bit and her white blood count has been somewhat high. From what we've heard so far, that's okay. Her WBC will be a little high because of the neupogin that was given to her and her hemoglobin will likely fluctuate for a time. So, things have been going well.

Today's bone marrow will hopefully show that NO MORE LEUKEMIA CELLS are growing in... that there's NO MORE LEUKEMIA CELLS left. On May 12th she'll head back to Penn Tower to have her appointment with her doctor -- hopefully to discuss the results of today's bone marrow test and her follow up treatment.
