Thanks for Praying!

Thank you all for your continued prayers!
As we continue to go through the series of consolidation treatments -- and think about the past couple of months -- we really see the love, power, healing and peace of God. Thank you for your prayers on our behalf!!

Friday night, Cindy came home from Messiah College. She got to come to HUP on Saturday for Mommy's discharge.

The week at HUP went very well. She received 3 doses of chemotherapy during her stay, received one unit of blood, and had her surgery for her new chest port. Her port is in and it has not given her any complications -- praise God! - and her chemo and blood were all received well with no side effects during her stay.
She continues to struggle a bit with maintaining her blood pressure and sugar levels during her hospital stays. During her stay in the hospital, adjustments need to be made to her regular meds to coordinate with the chemo treatment. The doctors and nurses are great at keeping an eye on how she's doing and working with her to keep her in good overall health.

It's expected that the chemo will take effect during this week -- knocking down her immune system and causing her to be somewhat weak and tired. She came home on Saturday and so far has been feeling well. We all went to church on Sunday and she came along to bring Cindy to her home in Philly - for the next 3 weeks.

Tonight Mommy began her treatments of Neupogin. Neupogin is the growth factor that helps stimulate the growth of blood cells in the bone marrow. During her Induction Therapy, Mommy was in the hospital during this recovery time and the shots were administered by the nurses. For the next 14 days she'll be self-injecting the meds.

Neupogin is BY FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR the MOST expensive prescription we have evvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr filled. And to think... we'll have to get it filled another 3 times, at least.

I am thankful for the advances in medicine -- the things that help combat disease and aid in the recovery and healing process. I am even MORE grateful for a Father who we can trust... for the "things" we need to be healthy and whole, for His provision that we are to make use of those things, and most especially that He is the gentle Healer.
